Family Relations Committee

The Family Relations Committee is the “heart” of Dance Marathon. You will work directly with kiddos and families that have been treated or are currently being treated at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, our local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. Each week you will be expected to attend an hour-long meeting, help coordinate monthly family events, and help out families when needed whether that be through babysitting, or attending kiddo events. During the Big Event, you will be assigned a family to guide and have fun with throughout the day! You are also expected to help make decorations for the Family Room at the Big Event, set up for the Big Event the day before, and help clean up the morning after. You will have the opportunity to form personal connections with our families and kiddos, and get to know exactly why we dance and who we dance for!

Family Relations Communications Chairs

We are excited to announce that the Family Relations Communication Chairs for Dance Marathon 10 have been chosen! The chairs for the 2021-2022 year are Grace Berlage, Jillian Atkinson, Peighton Davis, Maddi Stark, and Maude Heft. These leaders will work toward both personal and organization goals alongside the director by communicating with designated families throughout the year. While attending an additional meeting with the director weekly, the communication chairs will aid in brainstorming and logistics as well as effective strategies toward leading a successful committee and DM year. Providing a supportive and loving environment and relationship with our forty-five local miracle families is something that our communication chairs will strive for!

Interviews will be conducted Monday, September 13th through Thursday, September 16th.
